Background & Vision

Swakopmund is known for producing talented individuals, and Zohlanga Gaseb is no exception. Born and raised in Swakopmund, Zohlanga Gaseb, also known as Zee, is a dynamic and culturally diverse young professional. She developed a passion for multiple fields from a family deeply rooted in sports and creativity. Her career spans legal advisory, event curation and management, non-profit work, community upliftment and business development. As a legal advisor, she specialises in corporate law, compliance and contract negotiation within the energy sector.

Beyond law, Zee is the founder and owner of Adulting 102, an events and branding company that manages corporate functions, private exclusive gatherings, and social and sporting events. She also founded the Purple Pencil Foundation, an NGO dedicated to improving access to quality education for young scholars in underprivileged communities. However, today, the focus is solely on Adulting 102.

Zee explains that Adulting 102 was inspired by real-life experiences. When she started her first full-time job at a prestigious law firm, she was suddenly faced with financial responsibilities, investment decisions and long-term planning. She realised there was a lack of accessible information about financial literacy and wealth creation—one of her favourite concepts. In July 2022, she launched Adulting 102 to bridge this gap. Initially a joint venture, it became her sole project in mid-2023, evolving into a fast-growing, sophisticated platform.

Financial literacy should be a topic of discussion, and Adulting 102 aims to normalise high-quality, knowledge-driven events for young professionals, entrepreneurs, and creatives—not just in Namibia but globally. The platform fosters essential conversations, creates networking opportunities, and captures impactful moments, hence its ‘episode’ format. With its continuous growth, Adulting 102 is now gaining international traction, expanding beyond events into brand management and advisory roles.

Growth & Impact

Adulting 102 has grown significantly, with branches in Windhoek and Swakopmund. In 2024, Zee received numerous requests to expand into other regions, and preparations are underway for a launch in Johannesburg, South Africa. With this expansion, the team is growing, new concepts are being introduced, and innovation remains at the forefront.

So far, Adulting 102 has completed its first season with seven episodes. Season 2 will coincide with the South Africa launch. Each event brings challenges, but overcoming them has been part of the platform’s success. A standout moment was Episode 6, themed ‘Wealth Creation and Purpose,’ where attendees embraced a stylish green dress code. Another major milestone was Episode 7, which introduced oil, gas, and climate change discussions. Zee’s overwhelming support for that event solidified her decision to take Adulting 102 to the next level.

Initially, the platform attracted mainly financial and insurance professionals, but it has since expanded to include entrepreneurs, the energy sector, and the sports industry. Adulting 102 now offers event management and advisory services to organisations and brands, broadening its impact.

The goal has always been to create an intimate, high-value experience. However, as the community grows, the demand for inclusivity increases. While the target audience remains niche, accessibility to information is a priority.

Impact is measured through testimonials from attendees who have started businesses, formed partnerships, or gained valuable insights from networking at Adulting 102 events. Zee also learns from each episode and looks forward to showcasing more success stories this year.

Challenges & Lessons

Financial support has been one of the biggest challenges, as most episodes are self-funded. However, Zee has learned to navigate these hurdles with faith and resilience. Additionally, establishing credibility in the industry was initially difficult, but consistency and quality execution have helped overcome doubts.

Many people still don’t fully understand what Adulting 102 is about or who runs it. However, those who have engaged with the brand recognise its value. Episode 7, for instance, was planned within three weeks, and despite concerns, it achieved a 95% targeted attendance with strong at-the-door ticket sales.

Future Plans

Adulting 102 is on a trajectory to become an international brand. Zee envisions collaborations, a clothing line, permanent employment opportunities, and continued expansion into new markets.
